Nord-Lock has been approved as a member of the Japanese Society of Steel Construction (JSSC), a non-profit with the goal of improving technologies related to steel construction in the country.
Established in 1965, the JSSC is a non-profit general incorporated association with the aim of improving and disseminating technology related to steel structures and steel frame construction in Japan.
Comprised of companies in steel construction, steel researchers and other members working in fields related to steel such as civil engineering, the JSSC promotes the improvement of safety and quality of steel structures. It carries out research, develops technology, establishes codes and standards, and facilitates international cooperation in related areas like architecture and civil engineering.
Membership in the JSSC is the latest recognition of Nord-Lock’s suitability for construction in Japan. Since 2019 Nord-Lock washers have been certified by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's NETIS (New Technology Information System), a certification for construction technologies granted after passing thorough testing for quality and reliability.
Nord-Lock is also registered and approved for use by the Metropolitan Expressway Company, the organization in charge of the construction and maintenance of expressways in the Greater Tokyo area.
Nord-Lock Japan General Manager Ryuta Nishimura believes that membership in the JSSC will not only help build connections between Nord-Lock and other companies in Japanese steel construction, but also benefit the industry at large:
“We believe Nord-Lock’s product functionality and our technical expertise can contribute to safety in the steel construction industry”.
